Together in the water, together towards success

273 athletes – a new record for participation – over 900 starts and a German record in the swimming pool: the ninth Inclusion Swimming Tournament for the Elektror Cups had plenty to offer in sporting terms. On 3 October, athletes from all over Germany gathered at the swimming pool in Nellingen for the event. As the main sponsor, Elektror once again supported this year’s competition, in which people with and without disabilities compete side by side.

At the tournament, organised annually by the TV Nellingen swimming team, athletes from the German Swimming Federation (DSV) compete alongside para-athletes. The event thus creates a special setting that combines sporting competition with active inclusion, whilst placing the focus on individual performance.

Jonas Schneider (born 2007/AB) from TV 1860 Immenstadt provided the sporting highlight of the day. He swam the 100-metre medley in 1:02.98 minutes and, with 515 DBS points, set a new German record in the AB category.

A sense of achievement that goes beyond sport

Dr Sebastian Oster, Elektror’s designated managing director, was also present during the tournament. At the prize-giving ceremony, he presented medals to the athletes, thereby recognising their achievements and dedication.

As a foundation-owned, Elektror supports the Inclusion Swimming Tournament out of a deep-seated conviction. Sport offers young people in particular concrete goals to work towards and opportunities to surpass their own limits. Training, competition and personal achievements boost confidence in one’s own abilities.

At the same time, the swimming tournament demonstrates how people with different abilities can participate in sport together. People with and without disabilities do not simply compete alongside one another here, but alongside one another. In the water, what counts is commitment, enjoyment of the sport and one’s own performance.

Personal commitment from within our own ranks

The swimming tournament is organised by Marcel Baudner, Head of Solutions at Elektror, and the TV Nellingen swimming team. We are just as keen to support this personal commitment as we are the event itself. The result is an annual competition that combines sporting achievement, community spirit and inclusion.
